Welcome to the website of the Good News Centres Kenya Foundation

The Good News Centres Kenya Foundation has been raising funds for children in Nairobi, Kenya, since 1986. Uniquely, every euro donated to us fully benefits the kids. Our overhead costs are zero. The foundation sponsors a group of local Roman Catholic sisters ministering in Nairobi’s Kibagare slums. The Good News Centre they established there includes a primary school and a secondary girls’ school. Pupils are fed two meals a day and have access to a modest health centre.
Our share in the project is to raise funds in The Netherlands as well as to support the sisters in their day-to-day activities through a committee of Dutch volunteers who work at the centre on a daily basis. Our volunteers are Dutch ex-pats living in Nairobi for longer periods of time due to their partner’s profession (their partners may work for the embassy, a development organisation, a multinational et cetera). Committee members work at the Good News Centre voluntarily and without any form of reimbursement.
In addition to helping out at the centre, the committee also supports children who have completed primary school but do not have access to further education and are therefore very likely to end up on the streets. We’ve been able to place an average of 50 of these children in boarding schools every year. In addition to covering their school expenses, our volunteers visit the kids and talk to their teachers, giving them more self-respect and a brighter future.
